Peeping Tom Tuesday: Celebrity Home Theaters

With the Super Bowl behind us and the Oscars coming up, I decided to make this Peeping Tom Tuesday all about celebrity theaters! Here are some that caught my eye...pop some popcorn and enjoy!
With the Obama's....interestingly enough, this used to be a coat closet in the White House, later transformed into a theater by FDR.

Do you think he re-watches Idol here? Seacrest out!

You won't believe that this is actually in someone's HOUSE! Crazy...that Russell Simmons knows how to roll....and I think these digs are on the market in New Jersey...

A very manly, man cave in a NYC apartment...thank you Mr. 300...Gerard Butler!

Peeping Tom Tuesday: Kirstie Alley's Maine retreat

Today's Peeping Tom Tuesday is of a Maine retreat of Kirstie Alley....former Dancing with the Stars Contestant, Cheers lady, wore a bathing suit on Oprah...you know who she is!

This feminine and joyful home is currently on the market! It looks like a Grandma-inspired cottage and a truly fluffed-out bed and breakfast. For just less than $2 million you can live like a star!

I have a soft spot for the quaintness of Maine and that side of me just swoons over the charm of this home....however, the stager in me wants to tone down the patterns and highlight the pops of color....oh, what to do?

Loving this brightly tiled bathroom! I could chill there...

Peeping Tom Tuesday: Sarah Richardson's Summer Cabin

For this week's Peeping Tom Tuesday, I am honoring one of my design idols: Sarah Richardson. For those of you who are not familiar with Sarah Richardson, she used to host the show Design, Inc. which chronicled the projects of her design firm. She then transitioned into one of my favorite shows: Sarah's House. On this show, Sarah purchased a house with her own money and renovated it (on a set budget) and then tried to sell it at a profit. The  most recent installment of this series was Sarah's Summer House where she renovated a bachelor pad cabin that her husband owner prior to meeting Sarah. The cool caveat about this cabin is that it is located on a little private island- accessible only by boat and it is run on solar panels. It is featured on the cover of Country Living July/August 2011.

I loved watching Sarah navigate through making realistic design decisions for her own family and considering her husband's opinion (a red bedroom...). I have always loved her ability to mesh amazing patterns and colors seamlessly where not one pattern competes but instead compliments the other. Check out the photos below and tell me which room is your favorite! (Oh, did I mention that the invincible Sarah Richardson was pregnant while renovating this home?? So brave.)

Somehow it Sarah brought the beautiful waters inside.....my favorite though, is the red bedroom. I am a sucker for a punchy red!

On a personal note- nothing like foiling a plan on the first day! My big two week tackle of my own home decorating projects started with some client phone calls, food shopping and mail....ok, there is always tomorrow!!

Peeping Tom Tuesday: Knockout of a Nursery!

While I love decorating any nook and cranny in a home, my most favorite decorating gigs are the ones for the  nurseries and childrens rooms. I think there is such freedom in designing a room for a wee one that allows me to venture into uncharted paint colors that you wouldn't dare suggest for a main room! Whip in a bit of whimsy and delight and those mini-clients are sure to be full of giggles and smiles! So, for this Peeping Tom Tuesday, I had to share this knockout of a nursery.

Here, courtesy of Project Nursery, and designed by Little Crown Interiors, is a sneak peek into the nursery of  new mommy, Laila Ali (daughter of Muhammad Ali and mom to baby girl, Sydney.) This nursery packs a lot of punch in the color department but is sweet as pie for a baby girl!

Peeping Tom Tuesday!

So this is the launch of our new series: Peeping Tom Tuesdays! I bet you readers are so very smart that you can already figure out what this series is going to be about! Ok, for those of you who haven't had your morning coffee yet (or three!) here is how it is going to go down.
Every Tuesday, we will take a peek into a room or home of someone special. I am so excited about this series because as a decorator, I am naturally a voyuer. I love catching a glimpse of people's homes (not just celebrities homes) because what someone chooses to put in their home says so much about them, where they come from and how they like to live. That is the biggest honor of my job: whether staging or decorating, I truly appreciate that people invite me (and my opinions!) into their homes everyday. And that is the true inspiration behind Peeping Tom Tuesdays! Ok, time to get a little naughty and start peeping....

Can you guess who lounges in these living rooms? (Answers at the end!)

Great place to meet the parents....
Kick off your Manolo Blahniks and stay a while...
